So hardcore farming isn't dead.
Casual farming is fairly dead though isn't it.
Woop for bots and hardcore players. Too bad for casual 'lets play to have fun, earn a bit of money for that skill, or you know a sup vigor, no grinding for them no sir'

Hahaha! I did +30k gold today, just testing the vanish title, with a full party obviously, cleaned two NF areas, many golds and even one green! (I kept it, not included in the +30k gold) I think drops are a lot better now (with a full party).
Also, that areas originally designed for 4 people team, when you change it to hard mode, the drops are indeed good, +100 gold per monster is not bad (even when you get only 25)
So, my "farming" now is ... just play the game! hahahaha! (at least when I still have areas to clean, for the title, I am happy; I am sure completing that title will give me like +1.000k, no joke!)

For one i love it my drop rate is thru the roof, the store of ecto i have will now double in price and my store of titan gems has just gone from 50k to 100k so i made 700k last night in titan runs lol
Sorry to all those who feel screwed though, i dont think its an end its just donw to uise to find new methods.
I think i remember similar threads saying end of farming when .... they now run from aoe spells ..... they now will change aggro from melee ..... etc etc

I was just going through a mission to get the new masters and had four gold drops. Basically want good drops, play on hard mode, and just wipe an area super fast and even with henchies the purple or gold drops will drop like mad.

I'm not complaining about what they did, I almost understand the reasoning behind it. They are simply trying to encourage group hunts, and stop individuality. Yes this means that solo farming will not be as efficient, or quick, but it will still be there, and the drops still will happen......just not as often. My only problem is the fact that I started playing GW in an environment where I couldn't party with anyone. (I was in an area where internet wasn't a priority, and because of my sporadic connection I couldn't find people that would deal with me having to reboot randomly). So, I shrugged it off and went through the missions and quests with henchy's only, and beat proph that way. I farmed, on my own, cause that seemed to be the logical next step. I wasn't good at it, and there was no reasoning behind what I was farming, I was just killing things to have something to do. I played GW because it was a GAME, and it helped me get my mind off of what was going on around me, even if I could only play once in a while. After playing GW in Iraq for 6 months I returned to the states and continued playing GW. But I digress, like I said, my only problem is that people forget that Guild Wars is a GAME, don't let a game affect you this much. Yes it sucks, but so what? There's the only tear i'll shead for pixle crack. Play because its fun, not because it's convenient.
It’s just another challenge to overcome......
Not up to the challenge? Then quit....

Farming is not nor will it be rendered dead by this update. If anything it will be more profitable because there will no longer be a way for any goober that looked up a build on wiki to glut the market with items. If you think that demand will decrease because of this you're nuts. Demand for rare loot has remained constant pretty much the entire history of the game. Granted the loot in demand has changed but the demand itself is constant. So with the demand being constant and the supply being noticeably smaller what do you think this will do to prices? The only thing is the buying power of the gold piece will have to go up slightly since gold drops got nerfed too. For those of us sitting on a few million this is gravy for those of you wanting to get into farming to get a fat stack well this is a pretty bad time to start. Established farmers will not feel the sting nearly as bad but people looking to get into it or those who don't have a minimum of 300K to offset the cost of keys, kits and UW and FOW access will definately get the shaft here.

As a pretty casual gamer, this change is really disappointing to me. Having recently had a baby, I have very little time to play (ie: I'm even MORE casual than I was before). Solo farming was nice for me because I could afk as much as I needed to without making people wait on me and I could accomplish something (even if it's just amassing a small amount of wealth), in a short period of time. I need something I can do without a group and be able to be off the computer if need be within 20 mins or so. Solo farming was perfect for this.
With this "no grind," "made for casual gamers" game, I don't have time to play or accomplish anything. I won't be buying any more GW titles. I'm not being drastic or throwing a hissy fit. I'm just being realistic. ANet really need to rethink its understanding of the word casual. Just because, unlike other games, a "raid" takes only 2 hours instead of 8, doesn't mean it's casual.. it's just less insanely unrealistic than other games.
What I really don't understand is: it's not like everyone isn't capable of solo farming if they desire. It doesn't make the game unfair to anyone to allow it, so why is ANet trying to force their ideas of how to have fun on the players? As people have pointed out, it's not going to stop the wealth accumulated by bots. It's just taking away an aspect of the game that some real people enjoy. One can't really, viably use the argument that they are trying to encourage group play when heroes are now in the game.

I've never complained about any of the other changes so far but this is just stupid. I'm in a guild and I do play with guildies from time to time, but a lot of the time I play alone. Playing with henchies have always been worse than playing with other players and now soloing has been nerfed as well.
I really don't like the idea of sitting around for hours to wait for a decent guild team/pug. I hear enough complaints about that from all the WoW players at work. I play guildwars to actually play the game and sit around waiting to play and I really like the fact that I can play the game when we can't assemble a decent guild team.
Please anet - fix this.

Why do Anet not like farming again, I just realised that i have always taken it as red that they do but never known why, also i dont farm that much but, after comleting all campaigns, getting bored of PvP and having lvl 20 characters of the classes i want, I am bored of the game all im doing to pass the time until GW II is farming to get my warriors more sets of 15k and i dont even farm that much. now after this i may not bother playing and mabye i wont buy GW II....

hey
bad update imo..
im treasure hunter 6 and the lock pick retain about each third usage
that means:
3x1.500g=4.500
~4-5 usages -> 900g/key..
not RLY bad but a little
in HM the chests drop more gold items imo
(ran in tyria desert and northern shiver a 7:1 gold/purp ration (thats nice))
i think only thing 4 making many money is powertrading and chestrun atm
regards

There are so many things which are good about this update and I'm looking forward to farming more than ever.

Question. How did you made 33k in 10 minutes?

locked chest was carp.
but nice items, did also sanctum cay... died in the process (seem to bit not that easy for 55 not to stay alive, some e mange is req more then before. getting 1 foe alive can kill u more then ever due the lack of energy.)
anyhow seems ok to me for now, lots of great drops mobs that used to be lvl3 are now lvl 22!!! fun for the whole family.

Yeah Hard Mode is great for farming, Farmed Sunqua Vale (yes.. Sunqua Vale) with my Ranger and got few decent drops, I don't think that "Loot now scales according to party size" update affected to Hard mode (since every mob dropped something). So everyone, go to farm to HM
